Lake Wylie

Lake Wylie sits just outside Charlotte on the Catawba River. The man-made lake was first built in 1904 and contains 13,400 acres of water recreation and fishing excitement for visitors from all over North Carolina and South Carolina. Whether you are into boating, fishing, golfing, or just fantastic lake living, Lake Wylie provides all of the fun the great outdoors has to offer just a short distance from Charlotte.

The Lake Wylie Athletic Association provides team sports opportunities for kids in multiple sports, including soccer, baseball, and flag football. The new Lake Wylie Recreation Park will soon host baseball/softball/multi-purpose fields and walking trails.  

Golfers also enjoy living and vacationing at Lake Wylie. The Fort Mill Golf Club is just down the road from Lake Wylie and offers a classic 18-hole Donald Ross design. Tega Cay Golf Club has 27 holes all along Lake Wylie and offers both membership and daily play options. River Hills Country Club is a private golf club on Lake Wylie offering golf and tennis along with social and recreational facilities for members.  

Lake Wylie’s real estate has been increasing in value and has long been a secret compared to Lake Norman. Although it is a bit smaller, it offers everything any suburban lake setting could to families looking for country comfort close to the city.
