Westport is an unincorporated community in Lincoln County, North Carolina. The community's location on the west side of Lake Norman leads to its name. The area has an eclectic mix of historical sites, outdoor attractions, and Southern charm.
The Mundy House was built in 1850 as a one-room log house with a stone chimney and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The house doubles as a museum and has some amazing events. The Battle of Ramsour's Mill Living History Weekend commemorates the June 20, 1780, battle between Whigs and Tories. The weekend includes wreath-laying, keynote speakers, hearth cooking demonstrations, reenactments, weapons demonstrations, tours, and period crafts. Other events at the Mundy House include a car show, lectures, and the annual Veterans' Recognition Day Dinner.
Your guests can enjoy the next historic home at Vesuvius, a wedding and event venue with over 700 acres of private property, providing unmatched privacy and serenity. The home, built in 1792 by General Joseph Graham, is the oldest standing home in Lincoln County and offers a large multi-room bridal suite, a groom's suite and lounge, and several sitting areas downstairs. The property also features a creek, a covered bridge, and the remnants of an iron furnace built by Graham in 1795. The venue has hosted over 300 weddings since renovations began in 2007. Vesuvius is a perfect setting for a memorable day that will not soon be forgotten.
