Woodleaf is an unincorporated community located in western Rowan County, North Carolina. The area is known for its scenic countryside and is home to several parks and wildlife preserves. You can see a bit of Woodleaf's past at the historic plantation Mount Vernon. The main house is a two-story, Federal-style brick structure with a central hall plan and hipped roof, and once served as the town's post office. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The plantation was a working farm for many years and included a gristmill, sawmill, and blacksmith shop. Located in the Yadkin River Valley, Mount Vernon is surrounded by rolling hills, forests, and farmland and is a popular spot for hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

 

Join in and celebrate at The Woodleaf Tomato Festival. The annual event celebrates the area's rich history of tomato farming. The festival is typically held on the third Saturday in August. It offers a variety of activities, including a farmers market featuring local produce, crafts, and goods, as well as a tomato-tasting competition. Other events include live music, children's games and activities, a classic car show, and a tractor display.

 

Up the activity level at the Woodleaf Raceway Park is a 1/8-mile dirt oval racetrack hosting various racing events, including go-kart, mini sprint, and micro sprint races. The park also hosts annual special events like demolition derbies, mud bogs, and concerts. The track was built in 2003 and has become a popular destination for racers and fans. 

 

Many places here are tributes to nature. J&G's Japanese Maples features various Japanese maple trees in different sizes, shapes, colors, and leaf textures. They also offer tree varieties, such as weeping, dwarf, lace-leaf, upright, and more. The nursery is a popular destination for gardeners and landscapers in the region looking for high-quality Japanese maples to enhance their landscapes.

 

Boone's Cave Park covers over 100 acres and is named after legendary frontiersman Daniel Boone, who is said to have camped and hunted in the area in the late 18th century. The cave is a natural limestone formation approximately 75 feet underground. Several hiking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, and boat launches also exist. The park also has several wildlife species, including deer, raccoons, and birds.

 

Put in a workout at Salisbury Community Park. There are over 5 miles of paved and 10 miles of natural surface trails, making it a popular destination for runners, cyclists, and hikers. Salisbury Community Park also has a lake with a fishing pier and boat rentals available. Several fish species, including bass, catfish, and crappie, make it a great angler spot.
